Justin Bieber has been in quite a bit of trouble lately, and a petition has been launched to the White House to send him back to Canada. Now it appears President Obama will be forced to respond.
It’s been less than a week since someone went on WhiteHouse.gov and started a petition to have Justin Bieber deported, and more than 100,000 people have already signed it. The number is significant in itself, but much more so because it means the White House now has to respond.
Celebs mock, support Justin Bieber after DUI arrest >>
“We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture,” the petition reads. “We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive and drug-abusing Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked. He is not only threatening the safety of our people, but he is also a terrible influence on our nation’s youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.”
The petition was started after the Biebs was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, for allegedly driving drunk and drag racing a few days after police raided his home. His crazy antics have been evident for a while now, though.
Bieber also has his fans supporting him, but apparently not as many as opponents. Someone also started a petition to not deport Justin Bieber, but so far that one only has a little more than 1,000 signatures. It has until Feb. 24 to hit the 100,000 mark before President Obama has to respond.
“The whole idea of Justin Drew Bieber getting deported is completely unfair,” the new petition reads. “He doesn’t deserve this. With your help, we can stop it. He’s human. He’s not perfect. The media sees the bad side of him. Please. He’s saved so many lives. Including mine. A lifesaver shouldn’t deserve this.”
Guess who’s going to be Justin Bieber’s neighbor? >>
The website’s petition process started as a way for the president to stay in touch with Americans’ concerns, and he doesn’t have to do anything about a petition, even if it receives more than 100,000 signatures. But the promise is he will at least respond to it when it reaches that number.
Although it appears there are more than 100,000 people in the U.S. who want Justin Bieber gone, you can’t help but wonder if some of those signatures came from Canadian fans who wish he would move back home.
