Selena Gomez didn’t offer much explanation as to why she canceled her tour, but it looks like she was suffering in private.
Selena Gomezcanceled her Australian tour late last year to spend more time on herself. But it looks like the singer was also struggling with some personal issues at the time as well.

People confirmed that Gomez checked herself into a rehab center for two weeks in January, but reps for the 21-year-old said she was not struggling with drugs or alcohol.
Gomez was admitted to Dawn at the Meadows in Arizona on Jan. 5. Although the center treats people for many addictions, it’s not clear what Gomez was being treated for.
“Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse,” Gomez’s rep told People.
Gomez’s Australian fans were upset when she canceled that leg of her Stars Dance Tour, but she said it was important that she took a break after years of touring and working.
“It has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years (of) putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be,” she said in a statement at the time.
It was rumored that Gomez had lupus at the time, but the singer has never confirmed that diagnosis.
“She’s been working nonstop since she was 15 and she wants to take a minute to herself,” a source told People.

Gomez has been around many addicts in the past — some who have gotten help for themselves and some who haven’t. Just after the new year, and just a few days before checking herself into the rehab center, Gomez was spotted hanging out with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
It’s not clear if that visit had anything to do with Gomez’s realization that she needed help for herself. Gomez reportedly was also a big support for friend Demi Lovato as she struggled with addiction and entered rehab.
It’s possible the treatment center was a way for Gomez to get away and figure out how to deal with the stress of being a celebrity.
