Vampire Academy‘s Dominic Sherwood: First kiss with Lucy Fry was “awkward

by

Dominic Sherwood, who plays Christian Ozera in the movie Vampire Academy, dished on the awkward first kiss he shared on set with his co-star Lucy Fry.

Vampire Academy star Dominic Sherwood gave details on what it was like to kiss co-star Lucy Fry for the first time while filming the hit new movie.

Taking some time to talk to SheKnows at the Vampire Academy premiere red carpet, Sherwood went right to the point on his first kiss with co-star Lucy Fry and said it was “the most awkward thing in the world.”

Sherwood plays Christian Ozera, the love interest of Lissa Dragomir (played by Fry) in the film. And while they get quite chummy in the movie, the pair did not know each other prior to shooting. Sherwood came into the film later than most of the cast, so he actually had no time to meet anyone at all, and was just thrown straight into the kissing scene.

“It was day two, I was cast really late, so I didn’t have a chance to meet all of these guys,” Sherwood revealed. “Everyone was on set, we had like 150 to 200 supporting artists, and then [director Mark Waters] goes, ‘All right, we’re going to do some kissing,’ and I was like, “Oh my God, what do I do?'”

However, his chemistry with Fry didn’t take long to appear and the kissing went much smoother following that first odd lip-lock. “We got it out of the way early, and it was good after that,” Sherwood assured.

Vampire Academy is based on the book series by Richelle Mead, which follows the adventures of half-vampire Rose Hathaway (played by Zoey Deutch in the movie) and mortal vampire Lissa Dragomir as they struggle with love issues and the evil immortal vampires that want to kill their kind.

The movie hits theaters Feb. 7.
