Iconic actor Mickey Rooney has passed away at age 93 after suffering from ill health. Celebrities from across the globe have taken to Twitter to pay homage to the late star.

Hollywood veteran Mickey Rooney has passed away at the age of 93.
Rooney boasts one of the longest careers in showbiz, but, unfortunately, he took his final bow on Sunday after having suffered from poor health for a while.

Rooney’s career began as a child star in the mid-1920s when he starred in films such as The Hardy Boys,Blind Date and Death on the Diamond.
The iconic actor’s career went from strength to strength, and he became the first teenager to be nominated for an Oscar for his leading role in Strike Up the Band in 1940.

He has starred alongside some of the most popular old Hollywood actresses, including Judy Garland for the 1939 film Babes in Arms, Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Elizabeth Taylor in the 1944 film National Velvet.
In Rooney’s later years, he also starred in the 2006 film Night at the Museum and The Muppets in 2011. And that will not be the last time we see Rooney. He will once again grace our screens in B. Luciano Barsuglia’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which is scheduled to open in theaters on Oct. 4, 2014.

The 5-foot-2-inch star had no problem getting the ladies and was widely known for his many, many marriages. According to TMZ, the actor was married eight times, including one marriage to Ava Gardner.
Celebrities have reacted to the sad news of Rooney’s passing with Girls star Lena Dunham taking to Twitter to pay her respects to the late actor. She wrote, “Mickey Rooney got all the best babes despite being short as hell. #RIP beautiful man”

Nina Garcia also took to Twitter to pay respects to the Hollywood legend. She tweeted, “‘I buy women shoes and they use them to walk away from me.’ RIP Mickey Rooney. A Hollywood legend.”
