Battle of the duos: Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum vs. Jonah & Leonardo DiCaprio

We’re totally obsessed with Jonah Hill, so we couldn’t be more stoked that he’ll soon be buddying up to Channing Tatum again in 22 Jump Street or that he and The Wolf of Wall Street co-star Leonardo DiCaprio are up for best onscreen duo at the MTV Movie Awards. But which Jonah pairing is the best? You decide.

Partners in crime

On 21 Jump Street, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are technically partners in crime fighting. Which, for them, involves liberal amounts of inappropriate sexual innuendo and air-humping perps.

As Donnie Azoff on The Wolf of Wall Street, Hill and pal Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio, of course) can find trouble quicker than they can pop quaaludes. And, interestingly enough, their special breed of trouble also includes air humping.

Making the best of a bad situation

Stabbed in the back during a house party brawl? Totally no big deal when you’ve got your bestie Channing Tatum by your side. That’s what you call instant street cred, suckas.

Sure, getting stabbed in the back kind of blows. Then again, at least in 21 Jump Street, Jonah Hill didn’t marry (and procreate with) his cousin. Still, he and BFF DiCaprio found a way to find humor in the incestuous situation. What are friends for, after all?

When we say Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill would do anything for each other, we mean it. When their characters are forced by the local high school drug lord to take a hit of something sketchy, the boys “finger” each other’s mouths to induce vomit. I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure I love my friends that much.

There are moments in life when you truly need your best pal by your side. Like your wedding. Or the day your childhood pet dies. Or, you know, when you’re tripping on ‘ludes and choking on a ham roll.

Shared interest in extracurriculars

Hill and Tatum’s characters didn’t actually intend to take drugs in 21 Jump Street, but at least they shared the experience of air-licking the gym teacher’s hallucinated ice cream cone head when they were forced to try some of their stash. Now there’s a story to tell the kids one day.

To show his gratitude to DiCaprio’s character in The Wolf of Wall Street, Hill’s character gives him a crack pipe. To show his gratitude to Hill’s character for gifting him the crack pipe, DiCaprio’s character agrees to take “one hit.” Who needs enemies when you’ve got friends like these?

Better together

Sure, these two undercover cops/best buds have their ups and downs, but as Tatum points out in the new 22 Jump Street trailer, they’re “like a power couple” — to which Hill responds,”We’re like Rihanna and Chris Brown… you’re a really good dancer, and sometimes you’re meaner than I’d like you to be.”

From the moment Hill’s character boldly approaches DiCaprio’s character, asks how much money he makes and subsequently quits his job on the spot, these guys proved to be a seriously dynamic (often volatile, mostly entitled, extremely unethical) duo.
