Parks and Recreation actress and comedian Mara Marini puts Cody Simpson and James Maslow head-to-head in our weekly debate and asks you to decide: Who’s hotter?
Cody Simpson
Cody Robert Simpson was born Jan. 11, 1997, in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Inspired by his father performing at backyard barbecues, he asked for guitar lessons at the age of 7. In 2009, Simpson began recording songs in his bedroom and was discovered on YouTube by record producer Shawn Campbell. In 2010, at the age of 13, Simpson relocated to Los Angeles with his family to record songs with Campbell and Atlantic Records.
James Maslow
James David Maslow was born July 16, 1990, in New York, New York, and raised in La Jolla, California. His parents placed him in the San Diego Children’s Choir when he was 6 years old and he had a small role in La Bohème at the San Diego Opera when he was 10. He got his first agent when he was 14 and graduated from the Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) in 2007.

Cody Simpson: This talented pop singer also plays guitar and piano. He has garnered a large handful of awards and nominations, including Breakthrough Internet Sensation of the Year, Role Model Award at the Young Hollywood Awards and Favorite Aussie Homegrown Act at the 2014 Kids’ Choice Awards.
James Maslow: James is obviously best known for playing James Diamond on Big Time Rush (Nickelodeon), and he is a member of the boy band Big Time Rush. They released their debut album in 2010 — it sold over 5 million albums worldwide and was ranked third on the Billboard 200. He has also appeared on Nickelodeon’s iCarly, @urFRENZ and See Dad Run.

Cody Simpson: A few of his hobbies include swimming, surfing, table tennis and skateboarding. Although he’s stripped down for his “Pretty Brown Eyes” music video and Instagram selfies, he didn’t follow in James Maslow’s footsteps in taking his shirt off on the show (DWTS). Before leaving the show, he stated, “I’m actually not into that. I want to focus on the dancing.”
James Maslow:He grew up doing martial arts and climbing and he loves being active every day. Since he is on the road a lot, he keeps fit with free weights, pull-ups and push-ups.

Cody Simpson: He has a dog named Molly.
James Maslow: He has a dog named Fox.

Cody Simpson: He supports PETA and A Place Called Home and has performed at several charity events.
James Maslow: He has described himself as a “religious and spiritual person.” He also wants to open up sessions at a Boys & Girls Club where kids can learn about nutrition and how to exercise in a fun way.

Cody Simpson: Previously linked to Kylie Jenner, Cody is now with another famous reality TV star’s daughter, Gigi Hadid (Yolanda Foster’s daughter). He claims what he looks for in a girl is “someone who is relaxed and laid-back and doesn’t spend too much time getting ready.”
James Maslow: After a couple of previous relationships with fellow Nickelodeon actresses, he is now rumored (or not-so-rumored) to be dating his DWTS partner Peta Murgatroyd.
