INTERVIEW: Alli Simpson’s brother makes her want to dance

Alli Simpson chatted with SheKnows and admitted that watching her brother on Dancing With the Stars makes her want to cut a rug.

Alli Simpson stopped to chat with SheKnows on the red carpet at the Radio Disney Music Awards over the weekend, and the young songstress let us in on a secret: She just wants to dance!

“It’s really inspired me to start dancing,” Alli said of watching her brother, Cody Simpson, compete live in the Dancing With the Stars ballroom. “I was like, this is really cool! Cody and his partner Witney (Carson). Witney was teaching me some things, and Cody’s always dancing. I’ve always danced with my friends, and I was like, this is really kind of cool. It’s really kind of inspiring, and I think it’s really cool.”

Alli also gave us the inside scoop on what it’s like to compete on the show. “I watched a couple of rehearsals. They (Cody and Carson) are really hardworking,” she said. “From what I heard from Cody it’s not easy.”

Cody’s professional DWTS partner recently revealed she had to give the older Simpson sibling a little bit of a nudge when it came time to get down to work on the dance floor. “Cody likes to go off on his own, get a little bit distracted, so I had to kind of get the whip out a little bit,” Carson said of the free-spirited Cody. “[But] once he knows what he wants he’s good to just buckle down,” she added. Cody was voted out of the competition one week ago.

Cody has a hit single in his song “Surfboard,” and Alli talked a bit about how she is gearing up to follow in his footsteps. “I’ve dropped two singles: ‘Notice Me’ and ‘Why I’m Single,’ but I’m working on another one,” she said. “It’s called ‘Guilty,’ and it’s coming out in like two weeks. So I’m going to shoot a music video for that and then drop that in two weeks. So I’m really excited.”

Another thing that gets Alli really excited? Her crush on the Franco brothers. “James Franco and Dave Franco. The Franco brothers, I think they are really attractive,” the singer said with a giggle. “I have so many celebrity crushes.”

Considering James Franco’s recent Instagram debacle and given the fact that Alli just turned 16 last week, it might be a couple of years before she gets a shout-out from the object of her affection!
