Hayden Panettiere is so much more than a regular 24-year-old planning her wedding — she is fighting for a cause close to her and her fiancé’s hearts.
Hayden Panettiere’s wedding has been delayed, but it seems to be just about the last thing on her mind. The actress is engaged to Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko, and the couple has decided to put their wedding plans on hold because of the political turmoil in his home country.

“Everything that’s happening in Ukraine definitely put a hold on things,” the 24-year-old told Parade magazine. “But we have time.”
Panettiere has been very vocal about her support for the uprising in Ukraine, and visited the country last December to talk to protesters.
“There’s a movement happening here, and you have a chance to make things right, to make things just. You have a right to a democracy,” she said during the visit. “As an American, I want you to know that I stand by you, I support your fight, and I will support it until the country of Ukraine in its entirety reflects the beauty, the true beauty of Ukrainian people. Keep fighting. I love you all.”

Klitschko’s brother Vitali is in the Ukrainian Parliament, and is also one of the leaders of the reform movement in the country, according to People.
“I spend a lot of time in Ukraine, and I completely agree with what Wladimir and Vitali are fighting for; we want justice and democracy for Ukrainians,” Panettiere told Cosmopolitan UK in March.
The Nashville star said they want their wedding to be “fun, happy and stress-free,” which could be years away in Ukraine, but they are obviously willing to wait.
Panettiere is not only fighting for the people of Ukraine but is proud to be welcomed into the family. She explained, “It’s a beautiful country with beautiful people and a culture that I love.”
