If you break your ankle while alone in a park, you definitely want a troop of Boy Scouts to rescue you. NBC journalist Ann Curry was lucky that such a troop found her.
Ann Curry has proven that hiking alone can indeed be very dangerous, but luckily, she had a troop of Boy Scouts to rescue her when she found herself stranded and hurt in Harriman State Park in New York on April 5.

The 57-year-old NBC journalist had been enjoying a hike in the state park when she fell and broke her ankle. But she was in good hands when Boy Scout Troop 368 from Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, stumbled across her as she sat on the ground.
Rick Jurgens told Scouting magazine’s blog on Friday, “We were hiking along, and we came to a trail intersection and a lady was sitting on the ground with her one leg out. We didn’t think anything of it, but one of the guys asked if everything is okay. She said, ‘No, not really. I think I broke my ankle.’ She told us to keep going, but the guys refused,” People reports.

So what did Troop 368 do?
“They splinted it up perfectly, just like in the pictures,” Jurgens revealed. And the boys didn’t stop there — they also made her a makeshift stretcher from sticks and a tarp.
It sounds like the Boy Scouts did a truly outstanding job, and Curry herself decided to write the troop a letter of thanks.
“Discovering I was unable to walk, and needed to get down the mountain for medical care, you immediately set about to help,” she wrote, according to People.

Curry also tweeted about the incident on May 9, saying, “If you break a leg on on a mountain, I hope Boy Scout Troop 368 finds you. Boy am I glad they found me (sic).”
