LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling has spoken out, claiming he is actually not a racist and that he was “baited” into making his previous comments.
Donald Sterling is not a very popular man right now, and perhaps that’s the reason the Los Angeles Clippers owner has decided to speak out. During a CNN interview with Anderson Cooper that aired on Monday, May 12, Sterling revealed that he’s made a terrible mistake.

“I’m not a racist,” the businessman told Cooper. However, the clip in which Sterling is overheard telling his alleged mistress V. Stiviano, “Don’t put him [NBA player Earvin “Magic” Johnson] on an Instagram for the world to have to see, so they have to call me. And don’t bring him to my games. Yeah, it bothers me a lot that you want to promo, broadcast that you’re associating with black people,” suggests otherwise.
But Sterling has realized his mistakes, he said, and he would like the world to give him a second chance.

“I made a terrible, terrible mistake. And I’m here with you today to apologize and to ask for forgiveness for all the people that I’ve hurt,” Sterling confessed.
“When I listen to that tape, I don’t even know how I can say words like that… I don’t know why the girl had me say those things,” Sterling said of Stiviano. “Well, yes, I was baited. I mean, that’s not the way I talk. I don’t talk about people for one thing, ever. I talk about ideas and other things. I don’t talk about people.”

Baited or not, the outcome of Sterling’s remarks may result in him losing his team.
“I’m a good member [of the NBA] who made a mistake, and I’m apologizing and I’m asking for forgiveness. Am I entitled to one mistake, am I after 35 years? I mean, I love my league, I love my partners. Am I entitled to one mistake? It’s a terrible mistake, and I’ll never do it again.”
Do you think Sterling is entitled to one mistake?
