Fashion feud: Tim Gunn can’t look Anna Wintour in the eyes!

Tim Gunn wrote a piece in his book about Anna Wintour four years ago, and all hell broke loose. And it appears the feud is not over yet.

Tim Gunn is one of the greatest fashion consultants in the industry, but he has also made the mistake of angering a fashion heavyweight and not just anyone: Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

The Project Runway: Under the Gunn host has admitted he’s still terrified of Wintour, and told the The New York Post’s Page Six, “I don’t look her in the eyes, because I will be turned into stone.” Yikes!

So what started the feud between these two?

Gunn painted a rather unpleasant picture of Wintour when he wrote an anecdote about the 64-year-old fashion guru in his 2010 fashion advice book Gunn’s Golden Rules. Gunn wrote that he had witnessed the U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief being carried down a set of stairs by her bodyguards after a New York fashion show rather than ride in the elevator with everyone else.

“We ran over to [an] elevator bay to see if Anna would deign to get on. Then…what did we see but Anna being carried down the stairs…bodyguards had made a fireman’s lock and were racing her from landing to landing,” Gunn wrote.

“They carried her to the car,” he added.

Gunn’s comments did not sit well with Wintour, and they caused a P.R. nightmare for him. “All hell broke loose… her office was insisting I print a retraction,” he revealed to The New York Post’s Page Six.

“I wasn’t maligning her character,” he insisted to the paper. “I was simply making a statement of facts. It didn’t say anything about her as a person.”
