Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson finally set a wedding date

It has been a four-year engagement that may soon be coming to an end. Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are planning a 4th of July wedding.

Jessica Simpson has been engaged to fiancé Eric Johnson for years, and it didn’t seem like they were actually planning a wedding. But it looks like their marriage will come sooner than we’d imagined, because they have finally set a wedding date.

A source told Us Weekly that Johnson and Simpson will be getting married over the Fourth of July weekend this year, and hope to say their “I do’s” in Santa Barbara, California.

Simpson and Johnson became engaged back in 2010, but they postponed wedding plans after Simpson became pregnant with their first child. They now have two children, and apparently think this is the right time.

“We are very close to sending out our invites,” Simpson told USA Today earlier this month. “I’ve been very picky on how I want everything to look and feel. Eric’s family alone is almost 90 people, so it’ll definitely be a big event.”

The couple’s busy lives may also be responsible for the delayed wedding. After giving birth to her second child in June 2013, Simpson again signed on as the spokeswoman for Weight Watchers.

Simpson married her first husband Nick Lachey back in 2002, and reportedly is planning to make this wedding very different, all the way down to her dress.

“Jessica is having something unique made,” a source said. “It will be very different from the Vera Wang she wore to wed Nick Lachey.”

The source said she is not planning on wearing white her second time around. Let’s just hope with the timing of their wedding that she is not planning on wearing a red, white and blue dress (or her infamous Daisy Dukes).
