Management at the hotel where the elevator smackdown between Jay Z and Solange Knowles occurred has deciphered which of their employees leaked the now-infamous footage, and punishment was swift and just.

The Standard Hotel in New York City fired an unnamed employee for “breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video,” according to ABC News. The establishment released a statement quickly after the footage showed up on the internet, saying they were “shocked and disappointed” by the leak and that they would comply with any investigation by turning over “all available information to criminal authorities.”
The video began circulating on Monday, nearly a full week after it was recorded inside the hotel elevator at an after party for the Met Gala. It shows Jay Z being hit by Knowles, as her sister and Jay Z’s wife, Beyoncé, stands idly by during the attack. The surveillance shows Jay Z verbally holding his ground while a security guard looks on.
Neither side of the altercation has issued a statement as to what the feud was about, so the internet is, of course, running wild with speculation. Imaginations were sparked further early this week, when it appeared that Solange had deleted all Instagram photos of her sister, with the exception of one. Beyoncé, on the other hand, has done the exact opposite. The “Drunk in Love” singer instead uploaded a flood of pictures featuring her sibling and herself in cheerier moments in time.
While it seems that things have soured between the two sisters, it’s important to note that Beyoncé did leave in a car with Solange after the altercation occurred, leaving her husband to find his own way home.
