Dancing With the Stars pro dancer Mark Ballas was badly injured on Sunday while rehearsing for the finale with partner Candace Cameron Bure.
During rehearsals for his Monday night Dancing With the Stars finale freestyle routine with partner Candace Cameron Bure, Mark Ballas was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
Ballas and Bure were practicing Sunday afternoon for the first part of the show’s finale on Monday night when the pro dancer fell and badly hurt his shoulder, People magazine reported.

“Mark was seriously injured during camera blocking,” a spokesperson for the hit dance competition show said. “His shoulder popped out during a lift and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated and released.”
The rep added that at this point “it’s unclear whether or not he’ll be able to perform on Monday’s show.” The injury took place as Ballas attempted a complicated dance maneuver where he lifted Bure over his shoulders and something went wrong, making him fall hard to the floor. Apparently, fellow pro dancers Derek Hough and Cheryl Burke were also in the studio at the time and rushed to their friend’s aid.

Ballas is very determined to dance with Bure on Monday night, but he’s been advised to sit it out and let the shoulder heal. However, doctors have not barred him from dancing yet, so he may still be OK to participate in the two-part show finale.
But DWTS executives have asked another pro to learn Ballas’ steps with Bure as a precaution in case he is told to stay away from the dance floor.

This is actually the second time that Ballas injured his shoulder right before an important performance. Back in 2007, he dislocated his left shoulder while dancing in the finale with then-partner Sabrina Bryan.
