James Maslow was disappointed and frustrated to have been eliminated on Dancing With the Stars and thought he’d make the finals with Peta Murgatroyd.
After being surprisingly eliminated on the first night of the Dancing With the Stars finals Monday, James Maslow admitted he really believed he’d move on to the final three with partner Peta Murgatroyd.
Maslow was clearly disappointed he was eliminated just short of the second night of finals after a very successful run on the dance competition, People magazine reported. “We expected to go on to the final three, and it’s all good, but we really thought we had worked hard enough to be there,” Maslow said backstage after Monday’s show.

“We would have liked to be able to compete till the end,” Maslow added. “But, at the end of the day we’ve done our best, what else can we do?”
While the Big Time Rush star was not happy with his early elimination, he was very proud of his pro dance partner Murgatroyd and revealed how perfect she was for him during his stint on the hit show.
“I got the best partner here, I really did,” Maslow went on. “She’s given me everything she has, amazing choreography… I mean, she took me to the finals, so what more can I ask for?”

Murgatroyd said that Maslow was “absolutely amazing” and praised him for going as far as he did. “I’m so proud of him, so proud. Every single week everyone is like, ‘Peta what’s wrong with you?’ And when we finally get eliminated, I’m all smiles.”
But, the smiles quickly faded as Maslow went on about how sad he was to go. The Australian beauty seemed to become increasingly sullen and quiet as the actor gushed about her and his time on the show.

The duo actually shared a big kiss at the end of one of their two performances, and further inflamed the rumors that they are dating. However, there is no confirmation as of yet on whether Maslow and Murgatroyd are now a couple or just good friends.
