Star Wars VII: J.J. Abrams reveals how you can star in the film

A new Star Wars UNICEF initiative will raise funds for programs while providing fans with a chance to be in the upcoming film.

Disney and Lucasfilm, along with director, J.J. Abrams, have partnered with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to create a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Star Wars fans while also raising money for UNICEF’s Innovation Labs.

In a video posted today, Abrams appears on the set in Abu Dhabi, along with a bird-like alien creature, to make the announcement. “We’re so grateful to all the Star Wars fans out there for their support and their patience, that we would like to invite you to be part of the fun,” says Abrams. “We want to put you in the movie.”

Fans who make contributions to the Star Wars: Force for Change campaign via Omaze will be entered for a chance to win the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Different contributing levels carry added perks and merchandise, rewarding fans with T-shirts, signed copies of the Star Wars: Episode VII script, and even an advance screening of the completed film.

The contest winner will be flown to London, along with one lucky friend, where the two will get to go behind-the-scenes on the closed set of Star Wars: Episode VII as VIP guests. They will also get to go deep into character, courtesy of the film’s makeup and costume teams, before being filmed in one of the movie’s scenes.

Contributions to the Star Wars: Force for Change initiative will go to support UNICEF projects that provide creative solutions for global learning, as well as medical and emergency assistance programs for children.
