Maksim Chmerkovskiy‘s love for Meryl Davis goes beyond romance and is much bigger than a kiss, his brother Valentin Chmerkovskiy revealed.
After they won the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy on Dancing With the Stars Tuesday night, all Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis fans want to know is if they are an item. Not giving a definite answer, Maks’ brother, Val Chmerkovskiy, did say the pair’s love for each other goes beyond romance.
During the DWTS finale, Val spoke to Us Weekly and gave his opinion on Maks and Davis’ relationship, saying that calling them a couple “wouldn’t do their love justice.” The pro dancer, who joined the dance competition several seasons after older brother Maks’ debut on the show, added that the fan-favorite pair does love each other very much.

“He definitely loves her, and I know she loves him back,” Val said. But, their love is something that goes farther than that, the Ukrainian native revealed.
“One makeout session in the middle of the dance or to label it that they are a couple — it sounds great, but that’s not what it is,” Val explained. “He loves her probably more than I’ve seen him love another woman — he loves her and adores her — but it’s like a King Kong type of relationship.”

Val went on describing how Davis is so complementary to his brother’s sometimes rough personality. “She’s precious, and he’s gentle with her because he wants to see her shine and he won’t want to hurt her. He’s willing to calm down for her because she’s the last person he wants to see cry and the last person he wants to hurt.”
Apparently, not only has Davis captured Maks’ love, but she has conquered the whole Chmerkovskiy family as well. “We as a family love her, too. We love Meryl.” However, Val added that he’s not sure if Maks and the Olympic gold medalist are “meant for each other or were just meant to be in each other’s lives for this moment.”

But, he also revealed that he’s sure they will have many moments together and that their relationship will go on “for a very long time.”
