Oh, stop whining, celeb moms! Angelina Jolie has a refreshing view on fame and motherhood — and she’s not saying working moms have it easier.
Finally, we hear from a celebrity mom who is not complaining about how her fame affects her life. Angelina Jolie knows how good she has it and is tired of hearing other powerful celeb moms complain.
The mom-of-six recently revealed during an interview with the New York Daily News that she’s aware of how lucky she is and how she has an easier time than many regular working mothers do.
“I’m not a single mom with two jobs trying to get by every day,” the brunette beauty confessed. “I have much more support than most people, most women in this world. And I have the financial means to have a home and health care and food.”
Jolie and her long-term partner Brad Pitt have a big brood of kids, all under the age of 12, so her time is already split thin. Then add in a hugely successful career and you understand how much the Maleficent star is in demand.
So how does the 38-year-old actress deal with all of the demands she has?
“When I feel I’m doing too much, I do less, if I can. And that’s why I’m in a rare position where I don’t have to do job after job. I can take time when my family needs it.”
“I actually feel that women in my position, when we have all at our disposal to help us, shouldn’t complain,” Jolie said. “Consider all the people who really struggle and don’t have the financial means, don’t have the support, and many people are single raising children. That’s hard.”
No doubt many hardworking moms will be thankful to hear Jolie’s comments, rather than those of actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow, who has previously said working moms have it easier.
“It’s much harder for me. I think it’s different when you have an office job, because it’s routine and, you know, you can do all the stuff in the morning and then you come home in the evening,” Paltrow told E! News — and she didn’t win any fans.
