Robin Roberts is thrilled to be putting her days of sickness and secrecy long behind her. Check out a recent photo of the Good Morning America host and her longtime girlfriend here!
Robin Roberts is loving every aspect of her life these days. The morning television show host, who has battled both breast cancer and bone marrow cancer, has opened up about what makes it easy to share her trademark smile with viewers every day.
The 53-year-old GMA anchor explained to Local Memphis, “You know what a thrill that is to look in the camera and say ‘Good Morning America?’ To wake people up and to say we want to do whatever we can to inform you first and foremost but then help you have a good day.”

Sharing a bit about her new book, Everybody’s Got Something, the woman who came out via Facebook in the closing hours of 2013 said, “What I’m so encouraged by, is the intent of the book is being received and that’s to give people hope. Let people know that I went through a really difficult time but I’m here and I want to share those lessons.”
Coincidentally, the same day GMA hit a major milestone Roberts received devastating health news.
“I think about April 19 2012, this wonderful show, we became #1 after 852 weeks,” she explained. “Yes we were counting and that same day I received a very dire diagnosis that I only had a year to live.
“That’s life. It’s a roller coaster and it reaffirms to me that it’s important to really appreciate the journey and not get caught up in what it’s going to feel like when you reach the destination.”

Despite now being open about her love life, it doesn’t sound like Roberts and longtime partner Amber Laign will be walking down the aisle to marry anytime soon, or possibly ever.
“Amber and I are extremely happy and we’ve been together almost 9 years now,” the anchor, who is pictured here with Laign at the 11th Annual GLSEN Respect Awards on May 19, said. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
