PHOTOS: Wiz Khalifa tweets jail selfie, campaigns for release

Wiz Khalifa‘s jail-cell selfie is a bit of head-scratcher. What was he doing with a cell phone in behind bars in the first place? And what’s with those shorts?

Wiz Khalifa has made the most of his recent jail time by catching up on his social networking and inspiring followers to call for his release.

The rapper, seen here at the 2014 Billboard Awards earlier this month with wife Amber Rose, was arrested Saturday but somehow managed to keep his cell phone on him after being put behind bars.

In the first of a number of Twitter messages about his brush with the law, the proud marijuana user posted:

Was Taylor Swift so boring that Wiz Khalifa fell asleep? >>

Khalifa then shared this jail-cell selfie, which appears to show him flashing quite a bit of thigh:

The scuffle with the law has unfortunately delayed the launch of his new mix tape, 28 Grams, he added:

Meet Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa’s son: “The Bash” >>

Authorities say the rapper was arrested in West Texas for marijuana possession and has been charged with misdemeanor possession of the drug.

After telling fans “They’re tryna figure out how many grams I had. How ironic” and encouraging all to tweet #FreeTrapWiz to show their support of his release, he paid the $300 bail fee and was let go.

Giving credit to the online campaigners for their support, Khalifa posted this message Sunday:

It appears Khalifa is keeping good on his promise to release 28 Grams. A string of tweets Sunday evening claim they’re “getting the files ready” and “downloading the final mix and putting production credit on the list.” Khalifa added, “Im getting high and seeing visions.”

Should jail-cell selfies become the next big trend?
