VIDEO: Bill Murray crashes bachelor party & gives epic advice

Bill Murray crashed a bachelor party to give some pretty great advice about how to find The One.

Bill Murray is legendary for popping into people’s lives unexpectedly to create a “no one is ever going to believe you” experience, but this time the comedy icon went above and beyond.

The Moonrise Kingdom star crashed a bachelor party in Charleston, South Carolina, over the weekend to give some sage advice — not to the groom-to-be, who he said is already doomed, but to his brothers-in-arms who are not yet betrothed.

“You know how funerals are not for the dead, they’re for the living? Bachelor parties are not for the groom, they’re for the uncommitted,” Murray said.

He then went on to explain how to tell exactly if the person you love is truly the one: Basically, take him or her on your own private version of The Amazing Race.

“If you have someone that you think is The One, don’t just sort of think in your ordinary mind, ‘OK, let’s make a date. Let’s plan this and make a party and get married.’ Take that person and travel around the world,” he said. “Buy a plane ticket for the two of you to travel all around the world, and go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of. And if when you come back to JFK, when you land in JFK and you’re still in love with that person, get married at the airport.”

How did this epic moment happen? A party attendee explained to Deadspin, “At one point during dinner at a steakhouse, one guy goes to the bathroom downstairs and sees Bill Murray sitting with some people… and asked if he’d come up and say a few words. [He] got a ‘No thanks.’ Two minutes later, Bill f***ing Murray walks into the room and gives this speech.”

This is far from the first time Murray has given sage advice. He recently told Charlie Rose that it’s important to do things like randomly make some guy’s day at his bachelor party because you have to “be alert and available… for work, but [also] just for life to happen to you. We’re living this life, we’re in this life, and if you’re not available, a sort of ordinary amount of time goes past and you didn’t live it. The day passes and you didn’t live it. If you’re available life gets huge… it becomes much more full, you’re really living it.”
