Inside Out: New details emerge on Pixar flick

Pixar has released details on its new film Inside Out, and the movie’s subject matter is something we can all relate to.

Have you ever burst out giggling in pure glee at some ridiculous YouTube video, only to realize mid-gut-chuckle that you’re in the middle of a crowded restaurant, and everyone is looking at you? Or what about those moments when your anger got the best of you to disastrous results? Ever wish you could have a discussion with your emotional epicenter and give it some guidelines to help you look like less of a basket case?

Something tells us writer-director Pete Docter has. The creative mind that brought you such memorable hits as Wall-E, Up and Toy Story, is helming Pixar‘s newest feature project, Inside Out, and it’s all about our runaway emotions.

The film centers around Riley, an 11-year-old Midwesterner whose life is completely uprooted when her father gets a new job in San Francisco, California. Riley’s emotions react to the change in very distinct ways, resulting in a turbulent transition to a new city, new school and new life.

And since this is a Pixar film, each of Riley’s emotions get top billing and A-list character voices. Emotions include Amy Poehler as Joy, Bill Hader as Fear and Lewis Black playing the very fitting role of Anger. Fans of The Office will be thrilled to hear Mindy Kaling voicing Disgust and Phyllis Smith playing Sadness.

According to Pixar, Riley’s emotions go a little berserk once the family moves to San Francisco, leading to some internal turmoil in Riley’s emotional “Headquarters.” We’re already laughing at the image of a cartoon Poehler trying to do her level best to deliver Joy as she tries to calm the other freaked out Emotions.

Screenwriter Michael Arndt of Little Miss Sunshine fame is also on board to draft the script, leading us to believe Pixar’s family-friendly formula will once again deliver an animated feature that the whole family can love.

Now if we could just fast forward to June 2015, when the film is set to premiere, our inner Joy would surely do a happy dance.
