The series will be created by McBride and Jody Hill and tells the story of a high school and the vice principals who (almost) run it. From the press announcement, it sounds like everyone involved with Vice Principals is excited about the new show.
President of HBO Programming, Michael Lombardo, made the announcement on Wednesday. “Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can’t get enough of. The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible,” Lombardo said.
“When the idea for the new series became too crazy to keep to ourselves, we knew HBO was the perfect place to unleash it,” executive producer, David Gordon Green, said.

“Too crazy” to keep to themselves? That sounds like a recipe for hilarity. With creators like Hill and McBride (who also created Eastbound & Down) and the backing of HBO, it sounds like the network could have another hit comedy on their hands.
HBO has been full of announcements about new series recently. Just a couple weeks ago, it was announced that the network was teaming up with Dave Grohl for a new series that is expected to air around the Foo Fighters’ 20th anniversary. No other details have been announced yet, but fans of the Foo Fighters are already giddy with excitement.
Later this month, HBO will premiere another new series, called The Leftovers. The show centers on the story of what happens after 2 percent of the population just up and vanishes one day. A peek at the preview video shows a world where those left behind are torn between trying to get past what happened on the day of “the departure” and going mad trying to figure out why it happened.
Is Jessica Chastain going to be on HBO’s True Detective? >>
The Leftovers has a sort of Lost feel to it and it makes us wonder if the mystery of the missing people will be answered or if the viewers will be left as clueless as those left behind on the show. It does look like it could be both powerful and emotional, though, so we’re definitely planning on checking it out.
