Another actress opens her big mouth. This time it’s Charlize Theron comparing the invasive press to rape.
What is happening to actresses in Hollywood? Are they losing all perspective on life? It seems that way after Gwyneth Paltrow compared her life to a solider in combat and now, Charlize Theron is claiming the press coverage of her personal life is comparable to rape.
While doing press for her latest film, A Million Ways to Die in the West, the actress told Sky News, “I don’t [Google myself] — that’s my saving grace. When you start living in that world, and doing that, you start feeling raped.”

The reporter asked her to clarify her statement because it was worded so strongly, but Theron didn’t back down.
She continued, “Well, when it comes to your son and your private life. Maybe it’s just me. Some people might relish in all that stuff but there are certain things in my life that I think of as very sacred and I am very protective over them.
“I don’t always win that war but as long as I don’t have to see that stuff or read that stuff or hear that stuff, then I can live with my head in a clear space, which is probably a lot healthier than living in that dark room.”
Her choice of words may seem a bit odd to some since she participated in an anti-rape campaign back in 1999 in South Africa. The Oscar winner continued to speak up about the issue with Oprah Winfrey for her magazine in 2005.

She said, “I know how people think in South Africa. AIDS, rape, divorce, violence against women — nobody ever talks about it. You just sweep it under the rug. I want to do something to change that mentality. It has to change… I feel that if there was a conversation happening in South Africa where rape became a topic at dinner, then women wouldn’t have to hide or feel that they caused it.”
There are probably a few out there who disagree with the Prometheus star, but she’s standing her ground on her choice of words.
