“He had been planning on it for a while,” a source told Us Weekly. “They have a very relaxed and supportive relationship — they seemed to have always known they were going to spend the rest of their lives together.”

“He asked her father’s permission — the whole deal,” the source added.

Both Redmayne and Bagshawe are from London, and an engagement announcement was put in the London Times over the weekend.

“Mr. E. J. D. Redmayne and Miss H. J. Bagshawe. The engagement is announced between Edward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Redmayne of London, and Hannah, daughter of Mr. Nicholas Bagshawe and Mrs. Caryl Bagshawe, both of London,” the announcement read, according to the Daily Mail.

Redmayne, who also stars in 2014’s Jupiter Ascending along with Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum, shot to fame quickly after landing roles in My Week With Marilyn, The Other Boleyn Girl, and Les Miserables. His friends said the couple has “remained strong” even as his career took off.

“He’s remained completely levelheaded through everything,” the source said.

Redmayne seems completely smitten with his future bride. Back in 2013, he told People he looks for “a proper sense of individuality” in a woman. He also likes someone who has “comfort in their skin.”

“I’m lucky to be with someone who is very supportive,” he added of Bagshawe.

Jupiter Ascending will be out July 18. Redmayne is also working on at least two other projects, including The Danish Girl and as scientist Stephen Hawking in Theory of Everything.
