Casey Kasem hospitalized after wife throws raw meat

More trouble for Casey Kasem, who is taken to the hospital following a bizarre fight between his wife and daughter.

It’s been a rough year for radio legend Casey Kasem and his family.

First Kasem announced that he is battling Parkinson’s disease. Then a court ordered an investigation into the location of Kasem after his wife removed him from a Santa Monica facility and took him to Washington State without telling his children. Now Kasem has been hospitalized after a scuffle between his wife and daughter involving some airborne raw meat.

According to the Associated Press, Kasem’s daughter from his first marriage, Kerri Kasem, arrived with an ambulance on Sunday at the place where Casey and his wife, Jean Kasem, are staying. Kerri called authorities when paramedics were denied entry to the house, at which point Jean, 59, threw a pound of hamburger meat at Kerri.

“In the name of King David, I threw a piece of raw meat into the street in exchange for my husband to the wild rabid dogs,” said Jean, according to NBC via the Associated Press.

After the clash, paramedics were allowed to take Casey to the hospital. Kerri testified in court on Friday that her 82-year-old father has dementia and is suffering from bedsores and lung and bladder infections.

This latest incident is just one of many between Jean and her stepchildren. Back in October of 2013, Jean refused to let any family members visit Casey, despite his rapidly fading health. The entertainer’s children were forced to camp out in the driveway and protest their stepmother’s behavior. “He can’t really speak, but he knows that we are here,” Kerri told Los Angeles’ ABC7 at the time. “And last time we saw him, he could shuffle a bit. He had a hard, very hard, time walking. He was just deteriorating due to Parkinson’s disease.”

Just last week, after Kerri filed a missing persons report and Casey’s whereabouts were discovered, Jean was served with a temporary order that suspends her powers to determine his medical care, according to the Associated Press. The ruling also ordered Jean to allow Casey to be seen by Kerri’s doctor and for Jean to surrender Casey’s passport.
