Bret Michaels updates fans after health scare

Bret Michaels has a special message for fans after a sudden health crisis led to a scary onstage moment.

Good news for Bret Michaels fans: The star is on the mend and ready to rock.

Days after collapsing onstage due to a serious health crisis caused by a major case of the flu and his Type 1 diabetes, Michaels says he is well enough to fly home and see his children.

“Apologies for the pale white face,” he said in a message to fans released today. “It’s the first day I’ve been able to fly to the kids. There is not enough thanks that I can send to the awesome fans, friends, family and medical staff for their help and well wishes. You all rock!”

Per doctor’s orders, Michaels had to cancel several shows but already plans to head back onstage as soon as June 13.

“As previously posted, regrettably Bret Michaels will not be able to perform tonight in Albany, New York, due to continued illness and diabetes complications related to the Nora flu virus,” his team wrote on Facebook.

“Our apologies to all the fans. We are hoping that this will all be under control and Bret will be better in the next few days. At this time Michaels is planning to resume performances as scheduled in St. Louis on June 13th at the Jefferson Barracks. Thank you for your continued support!”

The attack was just the latest in a string of health issues Michaels has suffered in recent years. After suffering a brain hemorrhage in 2010 followed by a stroke, the former Poison front man underwent heart surgery in 2011 and has been managing Type 1 diabetes since he was a child.
