VIDEO: Iggy Azalea slams critics & fans over Nicki Minaj spat

Iggy Azalea had a temper tantrum on Twitter over fan wars pitting her against Nicki Minaj, but she actually has a really good point.

Iggy Azalea isn’t necessarily what you think of when you imagine the top of the hip-hop game — white, blond, Australian — but at the top of the game she is, and not all rap fans like it.

Success breeds haters, and those haters have caused a war between Azalea’s fans and those of another famous female rapper. Now Azalea says everyone needs to knock it off and instead of spending time tearing other down, get out there and accomplish something of our own.

She added, “Fan wars back and forth and all that s*** is all bulls***.”

What exactly prompted the outburst? Racist tweets long since deleted by the Aussie rapper have resurfaced on social media, adding fuel to the fan fire — especially since a Forbes magazine article called Azalea “the undeniable leader of hip-hop” with the original title “Hip-hop is run by a white, blond Australian woman,” raising the ire of Nicki Minaj fans.

Accused wig-snatcher Minaj tried to diffuse the situation with a rather backhanded compliment, telling radio station Power 105.1, “I think that congratulations [are] in order. Her single is doing really, really well and I think that’s a good thing. One thing I’m not is a hater.

“If somebody is doing something and they did it well, and their song is charting well, then congratulations. I just want female rappers to understand that I’ve kicked in a lot of doors for them and I just would appreciate if they would acknowledge that.”

Much like Missy Elliot and Lil’ Kim would probably appreciate a shout-out from Minaj herself. Meow.
