Lana Del Rey says feminism is really not all that interesting and she’d rather spend her brainpower on aliens and getting choked in her videos.
Equality between the sexes? Yawn. Lana Del Rey says the concept of feminism just isn’t very interesting and she’d rather contemplate outer space.
In an interview with Fader magazine, the “West Coast” singer said “intergalactic possibilities” are way more interesting than something women have been fighting for over the course of generations.
“For me, the issue of feminism is just not an interesting concept,” the former Fordham University metaphysics major said. “Whenever people bring up feminism, I’m like, God. I’m just not really that interested. I’m more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what’s going to happen with our intergalactic possibilities.”

When asked for her definition of feminism, Del Rey, who is often choked out by men in her videos, said, “My idea of a true feminist is a woman who feels free enough to do whatever she wants.”
Del Rey often portrays delicate, vulnerable women in her videos and says that’s all part of being a “girl.”
“Honestly, I feel like it’s more of a girl thing,” she said. “I was just kind of playing and, literally, I’m still playing. For me, being this way and dressed like this isn’t different than being out in a wig. It’s all the same to me. It’s all nothing, it’s all everything. I could really go any way. I’ve lived a lot of different lives. I lived down in Alabama with my boyfriend, I lived here in Brooklyn and in Jersey. I’ve been a lot of different people, I guess.”
“I don’t really know what I’m doing,” she said. “I’m trying to do what feels right. I tried a lot of different ways of life, you know, things I never really talk about, just because they are kind of different. I didn’t really have one fixed way that I could envision myself living. Going from a good relationship to a good relationship — I thought that was healthy.”
