Frankel and Jason Hoppy separated in December 2012 and have been fighting over their 4-year-old daughter, Bryn, ever since divorce documents were filed. The matter has now been officially resolved, according to People magazine.
“My client is delighted that this custody battle has been resolved; that his co-parenting status has been acknowledged; that the parties’ child will have the benefit of being raised by both parents; and most importantly, that his daughter will no longer be at the mercy of a high-profile courtroom battle,” said Hoppy’s attorney, Bernard Clair, in a statement issued to People. “Jason wishes Bethenny only the best of luck, and he looks forward to sharing with her all joyous occasions, milestones and blessings that will be coming up in his daughter’s future,” Clair added. The attorney also noted that specifics in the settlement are confidential.
The divorce process has been messy for Hoppy and Frankel. Both parties were at one point demanding primary custody of Bryn, and in September 2013, it came to light that Hoppy had been secretly recording his conversations with Frankel. The estranged couple were also still residing in the same home until February 2014, and Hoppy had managed to hack into Frankel’s emails, according to TMZ. Hoppy also refused to back down from his request for child support, despite a rock solid pre-nup that secured Frankel’s estimated $25 million net worth, says US Weekly.
Frankel will have extra time to spend with her daughter now that the co-parenting decision has come through. In addition to no longer dealing with courtroom drama, the ex-Real Housewife of New York’s talk show was cancelled in February due to low ratings after just one season on air. “While we’re disappointed not to bring bring the series back for a second season, we remain convinced that (Frankel) has a unique voice and that she will continue to be successful in the future,” said Telepictures Prods. at the time of the cancellation decision.
