Tracy Morgan is “more responsive” after car crash

A rep for Tracy Morgan says the star is “more responsive” just a day after he was involved in a multivehicle accident.

Just a day after Tracy Morgan was involved in a multivehicle accident that left him in critical care, it has been confirmed that the star is making progressive steps toward recovery.

On Sunday evening, Morgan’s representative Lewis Kay issued a statement that read, “While Tracy remains in critical condition, he has been more responsive today, which is an incredibly encouraging sign.”

Kay’s statement says that Morgan underwent leg surgery on Sunday and is expected to remain in hospital care for several weeks. Morgan endured a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs, among other injuries. “His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans,” Kay continued.

Morgan was en route to Charlotte, North Carolina, for another stop in his Turn It Funny stand-up comedy tour when his limo bus overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike. Morgan’s bus, two tractor-trailers, an SUV and two other vehicles were involved in the crash, which killed one passenger in the limo bus and left six more people injured. Morgan was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he was admitted to intensive care.

Tyrone Gale, the driver of the limo bus, told ABC News that he heard Morgan screaming after the crash, but he couldn’t reach the star. “I just remember the impact… We didn’t know which way was up, which way was down. I don’t know if we flipped several times or one time,” Gale explained. “I saw the condition of everybody and I knew it would just make it worse if I tried to pull them up and out of the vehicle.”
