Napoleon Dynamite‘s 10th b-day: Enjoy these sweet GIFs

We’re certain when Fox Searchlight Pictures plunked down $400,000 to make Napoleon Dynamite, they never guessed it would become a cult classic. Here are just a few of our favorite moments, in GIFs.

Transportation

Napoleon Dynamite and his stranger-than-strange brother, Kip, do things a bit differently — something all kids from a small town can relate to. So what is Kip to do when he wants to learn martial arts, but has no way to get to town? He and Napoleon engineer their own mode of transportation.

Sweet jumps

Speaking of modes of transportation, Napoleon and Pedro become fast friends when Napoleon learns that Pedro has a bike. The new BFFs decide to take Pedro’s bike over some “sweet jumps,” which doesn’t go so well for Napoleon.

Smackdown

Ah, brotherly love. It is alive and well in this story. Kip and Napoleon are forever squabbling about something. Who can forget their tussle that ends with Kip exclaiming, “Let go of me! I think you’re bruising my neck meat!”

Peer relationships

Napoleon Dynamite took us back to the halls of our high school wherein dwelled a mouth-breathing weirdo with an attitude. Cue the jocks, who made Napoleon’s life miserable.

Napoleon couldn’t even enjoy his favorite snack, “tots” in peace.

Jazz hands

Jocks were probably just jealous of Napoleon’s mad skills, like his “jazz hand” moves.

Sharp dresser

Or maybe they were jealous because he could rock a polyester Goodwill suit like none other.

Dance moves

Perhaps the high school studs envied Napoleon for his memorable dance moves.

Uncle Rico steak toss

We saved the best for last. This has got to be one of the best moments in cinematic history — Uncle Rico’s steak throwing scene. Sheer genius.
