Morrissey has canceled his remaining U.S. tour dates after collapsing backstage at a Boston show, and he’s claiming he contracted his illness from the artist who opened for him.
Morrissey has canceled the rest of his U.S. tour after falling ill on the road, and he’s thrown his opening act under the (tour) bus.

The singer was forced, with “unimaginable sorrow,” to nix the rest of his shows after collapsing backstage at a performance in Boston, according to the semiofficial Morrissey fansite True to You via Rolling Stone Magazine.
“The respiratory infection Morrissey contracted in Miami has worsened, and in [the] interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted,” a statement on the singer’s official Facebook page declared. “Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates.”
While it seems that life on the road would leave a traveling artist susceptible to germs and illnesses that could be picked up from anywhere, the former Smiths frontman is blaming one very specific source for his sickness: his tour’s opening act, Kristeen Young.
Young has not taken too kindly to the accusations, and she released a statement of her own on Facebook. “On Monday, June 2, I had an allergy attack that was over within 16 hours. I went to a doctor, an allergy specialist, who gave me drugs for allergies… and they worked,” her Facebook post read. Young says that she tried to explain the situation to both Morrissey and his tour manager, but neither men followed up with her or her doctor. Young also claims she was “asked to leave” the tour. “I am very sorry Morrissey is not feeling well. But I will not tolerate these lies, particularly about my health. This is really too much and bizarre,” she wrote.

The “How Soon Is Now” singer also cancelled a string of shows early last year due to health problems. In January 2013, he fell victim to bleeding ulcer; in March of the same year, he battled pneumonia in both lungs.
Like Morrissey, former Poison frontman Bret Michaels recently had to cancel tour dates after collapsing on stage. The rocker is on the mend after being taken down by complications of diabetes and norovirus about two weeks ago.
