Kanye omits Jay Z’s name in song lyrics, fuels feud rumors

While performing at the X Games, Kanye West changes lyrics to leave out rapper Jay Z‘s name, causing many people to wonder why.

If Kanye West and Jay Z aren’t feuding, someone sure has some explaining to do.

While on stage at the X Games last weekend in Austin, Texas, the newlywed West intentionally left Jay Z out of lyrics that normally contain his name, according to the Huffington Post. During several songs, West either altered phrases or was silent for a beat where Mr. Carter’s name would usually be.

During the song “Cold,” the lyrics usually say, “Lucky I ain’t had Jay drop him from the team,” and in the ditty “Blood on the Leaves,” West normally raps, “I don’t give a damn if you used to talk to Jay Z.” West simply left Jay Z’s name out of both of the lines, and did the same on the track “Touch the Sky.” He also altered the line “He ain’t with you, he with Beyoncé, you need to stop actin’ lazy” in the song “Blood on the Leaves” to “You need to stop actin’ crazy.”

Speculation is swirling that the song cut-down is stemming from West’s anger over the fact that Jay Z and his wife, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, were no-shows to his recent wedding in Italy to Kim Kardashian. This is West’s first public performance since getting married, so it’s not hard to understand why the internet would jump to the conclusion that there is some kind of feud going down.

Reports claiming Bey Z would be skipping the Kimye wedding started coming out as early as April, first claiming that the Carters planned to decline their invite because they didn’t want to be part of the bride’s reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Rumors also swirled that Beyoncé and Jay Z didn’t want to be present at the nuptials because of another invited guest — supposedly, designer Rachel Roy was the driving force between an intense physical fight between Jay Z and his sister-in-law, Solange Knowles.

If West’s alleged anger is because of the wedding dis, his newly minted mother-in-law is certainly singing a different tune. “There was so much commotion and excitement, I never really gave it a second thought,” said Kris Jenner said on the Australian KIIS radio station of the Jay Z/Beyoncé no-show. “If you had been there, you would have thought that was the last thing on anyone’s mind.”

What do you think? Is there a beef between Kanye and Jay Z, and if so, is it because of the Kimye wedding dis?
