For his 90th birthday, President George H.W. Bush decided to jump off a helicopter to celebrate in style.
Celebrating 90 years of life, former President George H.W. Bush parachuted from a helicopter near his home in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Strapped to a retired member of the Army’s parachute team, Bush jumped out of the helicopter in a red, white and blue parachute that onlookers watched float down to the ground. However, the 41st president safely landed in an area that was out of sight from reporters, People magazine claims.

Bush also celebrated his 80th and 85th birthdays this way and promised he’d be jumping again come his 90th. So, making good on his word, he was back again celebrating with a phenomenal skydive.
This was Bush’s eighth jump from up above in a parachute, his first being when his plane was shot down by the enemy in World War II over the Pacific ocean. The elder Bush no longer has use of his legs due to a form of Parkinson’s disease, but he is able to land from his jumps with the help of standby personnel.

Before his daring stunt this morning, Bush tweeted a message to his followers giving away his plans to jump.

Apparently, Bush is an adrenaline junkie and loves the element of surprise, his spokesman, Jim McGrath said.
“It’s vintage George Bush,” he said. “It’s that passion for life. It’s wanting to set a goal, wanting to achieve it. I’m sure part of it is sending a message to others that even in your retirement years you can still find challenges.”
