Kelly Clarkson has wanted to be a mom for a long time. Her dream came true on June 12 when she gave birth to a baby girl, River Rose.

She’s been waiting for this moment for so long, and now, Kelly Clarkson is a mom. On Saturday, the American Idol Season 1 winner announced the big news on Twitter to her fans.

Our baby girl River Rose Blackstock arrived on June 12th! Thank you everyone for all of your well wishes! Brandon and I are on cloud 9!! 🙂

Husband Brandon Blackstock is already a dad to two kids, Savannah, 11, and Seth, 7, from his first marriage. Clarkson announced her pregnancy only a month after she tied the knot with her music manager husband, after rumors started to heat up that she might be pregnant with her first child.

The “Miss Independent” singer suffered from morning sickness throughout the early parts of her pregnancy, but she knew all along she was having a girl.

She joked to People early in her pregnancy, “I’m totally gonna have a girl. I’m manifesting it! And when I have a girl, you’re gonna be like, ‘That chick knew it!'”

Indeed she did. Clarkson revealed that she was having a girl in January with a funny tweet: “I knew it! Only a girl could cause this much drama with all this vomiting ha!”

Despite being so vocal at the beginning stages of her pregnancy, Clarkson stayed out of the spotlight for the last two trimesters. She made a rare appearance in public on Easter Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee, but she otherwise kept a light work schedule.
