Jeremy Meeks’ mom: He’s a good guy, was wrongly arrested

Jeremy Meeks, whose mug shot took the internet by storm and gained hundreds of smitten fans, is no criminal, says his loyal mom.

Accused gangster and street criminal Jeremy Meeks is apparently an innocent guy who’s a loving husband and father, according to his mother.

Jeremy, affectionately known as Dreamy McMug Shot, is being stereotyped because of his many old gangster tattoos and should not have been arrested, TMZ claims. His mother, Katherine Angier, told the site her son is innocent and should not have been arrested.

Angier is actually trying to save money to spring her son out of the slammer. He is being held on $900,000 bail for illegally possessing firearms and ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm in public and criminal street activity.

“Please help. My son was taken into custody on his way to work. He is a working man with a son. He is being stereotyped due to old tattoos,” Angier wrote on the website GoFundMe. “He’s my son and he is so sweet. Please help him get a fair trial or else he’ll be railroaded.”

Meeks’ sister also came to his defense, saying that he carries guns because he once was in a gang and is now being targeted by old enemies. He’s been a born-again Christian for seven years and married for four.

A Stockton, California, resident, Meeks is 30 years old and was charged with street terrorism. When his mug shot was posted on the Stockton Police Department’s Facebook page it generated more than 21,000 likes and over 5,000 comments.

But, with as many fans as Meeks has gathered since his mug shot was posted online, his mom has only been able to raise $418 so far. If he’s innocent like Angier claims, let’s hope all those frenzied followers will chip in to get him out of jail.
