Gordon Ramsay shutters Kitchen Nightmares

Gordon Ramsay is throwing in the towel. The celebrity chef says it’s time for Kitchen Nightmares to end.

The often-surly and foul-mouthed master chef, Gordon Ramsay, announced today via his official website that he would no longer continue to make episodes of his breakout show, Kitchen Nightmares. As one of the few places were you can see Ramsay as a caring, kind human… we’re a tad disappointed.

Kitchen Nightmares debuted in the U.K. in 2004 and quickly put Gordon Ramsay on the radar that extended beyond the world of foodies. Everyone loved the cursing but ultimately-caring chef who came into dirty and destitute restaurants and helped the owners (often in debt) breathe new life into their business. The show soon crossed the pond and Ramsay began filming episodes in the U.S., as well. All good things must come to an end, though. After more than 125 restaurant renovations, the current and seventh season of Kitchen Nightmares will be the last.

“As filming comes to a close on the latest series of Kitchen Nightmares I’ve decided to stop making the show,” Ramsay said in a statement on his website. “It’s been a blast but it’s time to call it a day.”

While he’s shuttered one kitchen, this isn’t the end of Ramsay’s television reign. Lest we forget, he also stars on Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, Hotel Hell and the oh-so-adorable new MasterChef Junior. He hasn’t named any particular reasoning behind the cancellation, but we reckon it might have something to do with all the traveling involved with that show, in particular. Ramsay might be trying to squeeze in some more time spent with his kids, Mathilda, Jack, Megan and Holly.

Whatever the reason, we’re just glad we’ve not seen the last of him. Who knows, maybe we’ll even get yet another new cookbook out of the deal. We’ve certainly worked our way through his last book a few times already.
