Madonna is one happy mother this week because her daughter Lola is headed off to the same university she attended almost 40 years ago.
It’s hard to believe that Madonna has a college-bound daughter, but Lourdes Leon is going to her mother’s alma mater. E! News is reporting that her 17-year-old daughter is going to the University of Michigan in the fall.
Almost 40 years ago, the “Like a Virgin” singer headed off to the same school as a college freshman. Madonna was there on a dance scholarship, but dropped out in 1978 to start her music career in New York City.

Lourdes, who goes by the nickname Lola, just graduated from LaGuardia High School in New York. It’s also the school that the TV series Fame was based on. Lola was active in the theater department and recently played Rizzo in a production of Grease. She’s planning on pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theater and dance, just like her mom.
In the past, the 55-year-old superstar didn’t make it a secret where she wanted her daughter to go to college. She told the NFL Network in 2012, “I want my daughter to go to school there. I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place.”

Madonna seems to be pretty excited that her daughter chose Michigan. The mom of four posted a photo on Instagram on Tuesday of The M Den, which is the campus store for official merchandise for the school.
She captioned the picture, “I think ill stop in here! #unapologeticb***h”
