The 2014 BET Awards ceremony honored the very best black artists in the entertainment industry on Sunday. Did your favorite walk away victorious?
The 2014 BET Awards ceremony took place live on Sunday from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California, and it was on all accounts a very happy night with Pharrell Williams walking away with the Video of the Year award for his hit track “Happy.”

“(BET) allows us as black people to be different and do what we do,” Williams said during his acceptance speech. “You guys keep the lights on for us.”
The annual ceremony was held in honor of black artists in the entertainment industry, and it was exactly what an awards show should be: jam-packed with entertainment. Host Chris Rock also made sure it was a night to remember as he made awkward jokes, including his joke about the Jay Z/Solange elevator fight. “What’s happening in music this year? Well, Solange hit Jay Z in the elevator. That’s what happened,” he joked.

Rock also passed around chicken and waffles from LA restaurant favorite Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles.
Among the night’s big winners was Nicki Minaj, who won for Best Female Hip Hop Artist. She apparently made a little dig at fellow nominee Iggy Azalea during her acceptance speech. Lionel Richie took home a lifetime achievement award and Beyoncé won three awards, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, although she was not present to collect her trophies.
