Ariana Grande marks the very first performer announced to hit the big stage at the 2014 VMAs, which takes place on Sunday, Aug. 24, at The Forum in Los Angeles, California. It’ll be a big moment for the singer because it’ll be the very first time she performs the single live that follows the release of her sophomore album, My Everything, which will be available for purchase immediately after the awards ceremony. “Break Free” features EDM heavyweight Zedd and is the follow-up single to her hit song “Problem.”
Grande told host Sway Calloway during the TV special that she was “very excited” and “grateful” to grace the show that VMA staples like Britney Spears and Madonna have made history on. Just last year, Grande took to the VMAs pre-show to perform a medley of songs.

Not only did the pint-size pop star announce her big news, but she also gave her Arianators a fun glimpse at her knowledge of hip-hop music. During one segment, Grande belted out a Broadway rendition of A$AP Rocky’s smash hit “F***in’ Problems” with plenty of F-bombs, and was all too adorable while doing it. After the show, Grande took to Twitter to thank MTV and all her fans for making Total Ariana Grande a success, tweeting, “that was crazy….. hope y’all enjoyed #totalarianalive.”
