A second Mockingjay teaser in which President Snow addresses Panem has been released — this time featuring a team of armed Capitol soldiers to either side of his throne.
TRAILER: Josh Hutcherson will give you the creeps in the new Mockingjay trailer >>
As with the first teaser, an alarmingly silent (and pale) Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) stands by the president’s side. Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) also appears, haughtily putting her hand on her hip as Snow lauds Panem’s incredible unity.
“Never have we been more unified because, now more than ever, Panem is speaking with one voice,” touts President Snow, just before District 13 breaks into the broadcast with a message of their own.
As the Capitol transmission crackles and fades, a new face emerges from the static. Fans of the film will immediately recognize Beetee (Jeffrey Wright), with his signature thick-framed glasses, staring into the camera.
“This is a pirate transmission from District 13,” says Beetee. “The Mockingjay lives.”
In addition to the recent messages from Snow, Lionsgate has released a series of propaganda photos titled the District Heroes Collection, “celebrating” the people living in its districts. We can only imagine what else they have in store as the film’s theatrical release date creeps ever closer.
Philip Seymour Hoffman won’t be CGI’d into Hunger Games >>
Will Lionsgate give us a peek inside the mysterious District 13? Will we get more transmissions from the Capitol? Or, will the next message be from the actual Mockingjay herself?
Fans of the book know that Katniss has a hard time accepting her fate as the mouthpiece for the rebellion, but a promo featuring Jennifer Lawrence in her Mockingjay outfit would no doubt illicit serious fan-gasms.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will open in theaters Nov. 21, but you can view the newest teaser now.
