Robert Downey, Jr. has been a dad for 20 years, but he has never taken on the task of raising a girl — until now.

Downey has fully embraced social media (he even seems to know how to Tweet in his own voice), and used Twitter to announce he and his wife are expecting their second child.

Downey’s rep also confirmed the baby news to E! News.
The baby girl will be the second child for the couple, but their first girl. The Downeys have been married for nearly nine years, and Susan gave birth to their son Exton on Feb. 7, 2012.
Downey also has a 20-year-old son from his first marriage. Indio was recently in the news for alleged possession of cocaine.
The elder Downey, who had plenty of his own problems with addiction and the law when he was younger, issued a statement about his son’s arrest.
“Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction,” he explained. “Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being. We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”

Downey and Indio’s mother reportedly separated because of Downey’s addictions. They were officially divorced in 2004. Indio is due back in court in August, but it appears he has the full support of his family — which is growing.
