Katherine Heigl: I certainly don’t see myself as being difficult

Katherine Heigl was a rising star when she was labeled a difficult actress to work with. Since leaving Grey’s Anatomy, her career has taken a long and winding path, but she is returning with a new show on NBC.

Heigl spoke with the Associated Press on Sunday about her career path, and was asked directly about her reputation for being difficult.

“I certainly don’t see myself as being difficult. I would never intend to be difficult,” Heigl said. “If I’ve ever disappointed somebody, it was never intentional.”

Heigl’s new show, State of Affairs, has the actress playing a CIA employee who acts as a liaison to the President of the United States. Katherine’s mom Nancy Heigl is acting as an executive producer on the show, and her daughter addressed her mother’s reputation for being difficult as well.

“I don’t think my mother sees herself as being difficult,” Katherine said. “I think it’s important to everybody to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully and kindly.”

“I am her mother for sure, so of course I care about her interests,” Nancy added. “But I’m just learning about executive producing. I’m a newcomer to it.”

Nancy and Katherine Heigl pitched the show to NBC, and so far the network hasn’t seen any problems from the mother-daughter duo. NBC president Jennifer Salke described Nancy Heigl as “someone with a strong opinion.”

Katherine Heigl added that it was a bit awkward to be asked about her reputation, and joked, “I think I’m a joy to work with.”
