Busted! Tennis pro John McEnroe’s son caught buying drugs

Tennis pro John McEnroe’s eldest son Kevin McEnroe has landed himself in hot water following his arrest on Tuesday in New York City, New York, for possession of a controlled substance, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed to Us Weekly.

“Kevin McEnroe was caught buying drugs on July 15 at 11:15 p.m. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance,” an NYPD spokesperson revealed to the mag.

Kevin, the son of a former world No. 1 tennis star and Oscar-winning actress Tatum O’Neal, was spotted carrying out an alleged drug deal in the East Village. He was busted near the corner of East Fourth Street and Avenue A with a 22-year-old man named as Niro Meneses, the New York Daily News reports.

Kevin was said to have had on his possession “six glassine envelopes of cocaine, 20 painkillers, 10 morphine pills and one anxiety pill,” the site reports.

“Given the amount of drugs on him… we believe we have a strong intent to sell case,” prosecutor Mary Ostberg said at McEnroe’s Manhattan Criminal Court arraignment.

Kevin was arraigned in court on Wednesday on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and released without bail. Neither of his parents were pictured with him as he left the courthouse.

However, this is not the first time someone in the family has found themselves on the wrong side of the law. Back in 2008, Kevin’s mom, the Little Darlings actress, was arrested after being caught buying crack cocaine in New York City, New York, Us Weekly reports.

O’Neal has previously admitted to battling drug addiction since the age of 14 and even lost custody of her children four years after her divorce from John McEnroe in 1994 because of her struggles with heroin abuse.
