Lauren Conrad may be many things, but don’t you dare call her basic. The fashion guru has bitten back at Allure magazine, who described her style as basic in a recent fashion snippet.
The Hills alum was unimpressed by the magazine’s page Beauty & the Beat, in which Allure highlights four different types of styles for women, their descriptions and then the celebs who fall into those style categories.

Conrad’s profile reads, “Basic: Made famous by Kreayshawn, and viral by YouTube, the Basic woman is remarkably unremarkable. What’s noteworthy about her style is its very plainness. Except to her. She swears those red-soled shoes are cutting-edge.” The profile was positioned against other styles like the Street Stylist and the Bohemian Hippie.
It may not seem like a dis at first by describing the Paper Crown designer’s style as basic, but as the magazine elaborates, some of the remarks are offensive and unflattering, an example being that the Basic woman “is remarkably unremarkable.”
Burn! Conrad clearly doesn’t agree with the mag’s choice of words for her style, so she took to Twitter on Monday to air her grievances.

The piece, while clearly a generalization, then goes on to describe the women in the Basic category as wearing “a blowout or sausage curls” and “Essie Ballet Slippers” nail polish, and smelling like “vanilla-cupcake body milk.”

Do you think Conrad is right to blast the magazine that she has repeatedly graced the cover of, most recently back in April of this year?
