For the second year running, Robert Downey, Jr. is Forbes‘ highest-paid actor, according to Variety.
Forbes estimates that RDJ has raked in a whopping $75 million since last June, which is the same amount they believed he made the year before. The business magazine calculates their figures by talking to agents, directors, producers, lawyers and other industry professionals before determining who makes the list. RDJ’s top earner by far has been Iron Man 3, which pulled in more than a billion dollars in 2013.

It’s been a roller coaster year for Downey, Jr. In addition to the undoubted joy that comes with being Hollywood’s top earner, the actor also made the exciting announcement earlier this month that he is expecting his first daughter with wife, Susan. On the other hand, the Downey family has been almost simultaneously publicly battling eldest son Indio’s issues with cocaine. Twenty-year-old Indio was arrested at the beginning of July for allegedly being in the possession of cocaine. “Unfortunately there is a genetic component to addiction,” Downey, Jr., who had several drug arrests himself before getting clean in the early 2000s, said in a statement to TMZ.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came in second on Forbes‘ list, earning $52 million. The Pain & Gain star has come a long way from his humble beginnings, which he claims propelled him to train his muscled physique. “It was about, ‘What can I control with these two hands?’ The only thing I could do was train and build my body,” Johnson said of being evicted from his home at just 14 years old. “The successful men I knew were men who built their bodies.”
A surprising edition to this year’s list is Chris Hemsworth, who came in fifth with $37 million. The handsome actor definitely cashed in on superhero movies: He starred as the title character in Thor: TheDark World and will also appear alongside RDJ in the upcoming Avengers movie.
