Get lost in pages of mesmerizing Capitol fashion with Capitol Couture, a special online magazine featuring impressive fashion, art and design from Panem.
Lionsgate is taking our breath away (yet again!) with its newest Mockingjay promo — an online magazine that comes directly from the Capitol of Panem.
The magazine features mesmerizing photos and inventive articles from some of Panem’s most elite and “in the know” fashion editors, capitalizing on our fascination with the film’s awe-inspiring design.

Of special note are the Capitol Citizen Living Portraits, featuring The Hunger Games tributes to Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). The duo are dressed head to toe in what should officially be dubbed “President Snow” white as they each stand on a rotating pedestal in front of the Panem seal.

The living portraits of both Peeta and Johanna echo the ominous tone of the first two propaganda pieces previously released featuring President Snow. Peeta stands dutifully (if a little apprehensive) before the camera, while Johanna’s haughtiness positively springs off the screen.

The magazine praises Peeta for having “an unprecedented two victories under his belt,” and goes on to claim that “Peeta is no longer the boy who bravely faced the 74th Hunger Games, but a true Capitol hero.”
Obviously, the Capitol is engaging in some creative spin.
Calling Peeta and Johanna the “cherished victors” of the Quarter Quell is an interesting take on the events of the past film since the arena was basically destroyed at the end of Catching Fire, leaving the duo more survivors than victors. However, the magazine’s decision to refer to them as champions paints a very clear picture of how the Capitol PR machine is trying to tip the odds in their favor.

Visitors to the Capital Couture site could get absolutely lost in all things The Hunger Games as the site’s designers have included a bevy of material for fans to read over and enjoy, including back issues of the magazine featuring articles on Katniss, Peeta and additional other tributes. Additional “articles” include editorials by the magazine’s staff, fashion spreads, special Capitol event coverage and more.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 will open in theaters on Nov. 21, but you can get caught up on all things Panem by visiting Capitol Couture.
