Lena Dunham has made a career of talking about current issues, especially among women, and continued that tradition by tweeting about her need for birth control. With the recent Supreme Court decision allowing companies to opt out of contraception coverage due to religious beliefs, Dunham decided to bring to light the health reasons for birth control in women.

On Tuesday, she tweeted a simple question, and requested answers from other women.

Women and men everywhere replied to Dunham’s question, and made it clear there are many reasons for birth control use.

Dunham followed up the conversation with information from Planned Parenthood, and said that they will be out with her on her book tour — and added another important comment.
Love hearing all your reasons for using birth control. And guess what? You don't need a reason.

Dunham’s new book, Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s Learned, is a semi-autobiographical story about a woman who is finding herself — through humor, culture and learning about who she is. It will be out on Sept. 30, 2014.
