Sharknado was the unlikely little SyFy movie that turned into a hit in 2013, but apparently Tara Reid felt the realism of the tale. As she is out to promote Sharknado 2: The Second One, Reid explains the “science” behind shark-filled storms.

“You know, it actually can happen,” Reid told GQ magazine. “I mean, the chances of it happening are very rare, but it can happen actually.”
The interview, which seems as far-fetched as the movie itself, has Reid talking about the possibilities of a real-life sharknado.
“Which is crazy. Not that it — the chances of it are, like, you know, it’s like probably ‘pigs could fly,'” she said. “Like, I don’t think pigs could fly, but actually sharks could be stuck in tornadoes.
“There could be a sharknado,” she added.
In the film, sharks were not only flying through the storms but also did more unrealistic things like climbing ropes with their teeth.
Sharknado 2 has upped the franchise’s star power, adding actors Vivica A. Fox, Mark McGrath and 30 Rock‘s Judah Friedlander, among others. Costar Ian Ziering, who is returning for the sequel, did what he could to bring the interview back to reality, and made a joke of Reid’s comments. He added, “The most terrifying tornado would be probably be full of lawyers.”

But Ziering did offer advice on how to prepare for a sharknado, in case you are ever faced with one.
“Get yourself the biggest, badass chainsaw you can find and hope for the best,” he said.
Sharknado 2: The Second One premieres Wednesday, July 30 on SyFy.
